Ben Cook's former college 'shocked and saddened' after teenager found dead at house in Oxshott

Staff and students at the former college of Ben Cook, who was found dead at a house in Oxshott on Sunday, have been left "shocked and extremely saddened".

The teenager was discovered at the home in Stokesheath Road on Sunday (May 14).

He had been a student at Godalming College from September last year but left in February.

Emma Young, principal at the Tuesley Lane college, said staff and students were "shocked and extremely saddened" by the news.

"We were all shocked and extremely saddened to hear the devastating news about Ben.

"Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends at this very difficult time and ask that their privacy is respected.

"In the time that he attended the college, he proved himself to be a popular, affable and personable young man.

"We are supporting his friends at college through our student support network and the college counselling team."

It is believed Mr Cook was also a pupil at George Abbot School in Guildford .

In a statement Surrey Police confirmed they had been called to an address in Stokesheath Road, Oxshott, around 10.50am on Sunday (May 14), following "the discovery of the body of a 17-year-old male".

The statement added: "The cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

"Enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the death remain ongoing."
